As part of the ongoing “The Essentials” video series, we partnered with The Be Well Collective (BWC) to produce a short-form interview spotlighting its founder, Sarah Ann Macklin. The video serves as an intimate introduction to BWC’s mission, weaving Sarah’s insights with the broader ethos of the organisation. Shot in a clean, editorial style, the piece anchors the “Live Well, Be Well” initiative—a series that brings together health experts and fashion industry voices to explore the intersection of wellbeing, education, and lived experience. Our goal was to create a video that felt authentic, informative, and emotionally resonant, setting the tone for the series to follow.
The challenge lay in distilling a complex, multi-faceted mission into a concise narrative that felt personal yet universally relevant. We wanted to avoid the clinical tone often associated with wellness content, instead opting for a warm, conversational atmosphere that reflected Sarah’s passion and clarity. Our approach focused on simplicity and sincerity, featuring minimal styling, soft lighting, and a direct-to-camera format that allowed Sarah’s voice to take centre stage. We intercut her reflections with subtle b-roll and graphic elements to reinforce key themes—mental health, education, and industry reform—without overwhelming the viewer. The pacing was gentle and intentional, designed to invite reflection and connection.
The video was released as the opening chapter of “The Essentials” series, setting a thoughtful and engaging precedent for future episodes. It was well-received by BWC’s community and partners, praised for its clarity, tone, and emotional depth. By foregrounding Sarah’s story, the piece helped humanise the organisation’s mission and deepen audience understanding of the challenges facing wellbeing in the fashion industry. The video continues to serve as a foundational resource for BWC’s outreach, reinforcing its commitment to education, empathy, and systemic change.
